It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
