New England matched their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

QB Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The win increases the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats

The Jets had scored first at their home field with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the New York's opening drive

But the Patriots answered in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields connected with Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
